D-353 Dark and Moody lighting

Today I read a blog entry titled "Dark & Moody" (are you begining to see a pattern here?) by Glyn Dewis
I attempted to do some moody self portaits but alas, David had to come help. I set up the light, the reflector and the pose David took the image.

Dark and moody lighting

I'm not thrilled with the results. Not thrilled with the image but I'm tired and it's late so there is day 353.
This one I took myself. Regular lighting with umbrella

D-335 A selfie but it's really about the hands

The daily shoot: The daily shoot #ds382 Make a photo today that features a hand in a creative way.

Here they are my hands holding a Spider mum. I have a couple more on flickr if you are interested in looking at them.

the watch is compliments of Miss Isabella. We had dinner at Mc D's and that was her free gift. She got an extra one so she gave it to me. I think I'll wear it to work tomorrow.

Facebook Friday Challenge: Labor
Dave spent 2+ hours on the phone with a Zune representative who managed to mess up Dave's computer but eventually they fixed everything.

D-283 Zoom effect & slow shutter speeds

Project 365 Facebook friday challenge is "slow the shutter speed down"
SRM_5487ers

and while my shutter speed was slowed down I tried some zoom effect shots. This was my first attempt at it and I later found an article on the same subject. Mastering the Zoom Effect. I'll have to try it again.

191 - Fog

“Living without faith is like driving in a fog.” Arthur Unknown

Weird how today's challenge at Tasra Mar's Theme Thursday is "Fog" My brain has been in a fog all day.

The best way I know how to unwind, besides working out, is taking pictures. So, I am sorry but here's another self portrait. I'll try to find other willing models. David did help me with this one a bit. Thanks babe!

D-183 Another self portrait - Black and white

Today marks the halfway point for My 365 project 2010. Yay!
Today I'm posting 3 pictures.

Self protrait of my freckles in all their glory. I really don't like them but after all of these years it's just me.
Light box behind and slightly to camera left, reflector on the floor

Self portrait in studio. I added grain and noise to make it look older.
Technically not a great pose, but I like it. I relly am tired and wondering if there is a break sometime in the near future.

The Gardener in 'Debits and Credits'

One grief on me is laid
Each day of every year,
Wherein no soul can aid,
Whereof no soul can hear:
Whereto no end is seen
Except to grieve again-
Ah, Mary Magdalene,
Where is there greater pain?

just thought that poem sounded appropriate for the image today.

and finally, after sharing my image from yesterday with Pam Lopez, she suggested I try a slight different crop and convert to black and white.
I like it!
The soul
I hadn't noticed the reflection of myself in the eye until David pointed it out today.

D-177

I have completed 2 challenges today. I'm loving these challenges because they push me to think "outside" the box. They push me to be more creative and it is after all a challenge. They also help me use new techniques I might not have used before.
The first is for the Tasra Mar Challenge - Silhouette

Since I can't seem to get my images done early because of life commitment's I had to do my silhouette in studio. It's a self portrait.
silhouette-me_edited-rs
This was a fun challenge.

A fellow 365rs that I follow, Simply Kuni, created a challenge for himself, "This week I’ll be shooting only a single image each day. I guess I’ll have to get it right the first time. No second chances…
I encourage you to join me with this weeks challenge. Next week I think I’ll tape off my screen to avoid “chimping“. Will you do the same?"

The construction site was one shot.

Then the other one was for the daily shoot.
#ds228 Construction seems to be perpetual: streets, sidewalks, buildings. Make a photo of something under construction today.

D-167 Mysterious

Today is my 7th wedding anniversary. I want to say "Hi Babe, happy anniversary"
David has been my best friend and my partner in life for the past 11 years. He has stepped up to the plate and has been the most amazing step father, to my kids, anyone can ever wish for. I cannot imagine life without him. He loves to cook and supports my hobbies, habits, career and dreams. I feel complete because of him. Thank you babe.
Oh and thanks for the Anniversary dinner, it was delicious.

This one's for you babe.
THE DAILY SHOOT - #ds218 Leave something out today. Be visually brief. Shoot tight. Make a photo that's direct and to the point.
