The warmth of the sun

I had intended in taking a haunting picture for Halloween and all but instead my dd was willing to be a subject and that's way better than a scary picture any ol' day. There's another lady in the house who cut her hair - o.k. not by much but she still looks super cute.

I love the sun. I love to watch it come up in the early morning hours and I love to watch it set at night. Sunset is truly a magical time for photographers. Here Khalila looks for the warmth of the sun to kiss her face.

Take Notice & Savour the moment

Picture is of a colony of mushrooms that is growing at the base of a tree (in my yard) that was cut down years ago.

I try to find something inspirational or a new thought to ponder on everyday. Here is my lesson for today:

"Simple activities such as gardening or mending a bicycle can protect mental health and help people to lead more fulfilled and productive lives, a panel of scientists has found.

People should try to connect with others, to be active, to take notice of their surroundings, to keep learning and to give to their neighbours and communities, the document says.

Its advice to “take notice” includes suggestions such as “catch sight of the beautiful” and “savour the moment, whether walking to work, eating lunch or talking to friends”. Examples of learning include mending a bike or trying to play a musical instrument." "insert photography here"

Changes

First time in many, many years that I get my hair cut this short. It's just time for changes in my life and this is just the first step.

I just hope I can figure out what to do with it every morning.
Took this picture using the tripod and available light at home this evening.

Peace

When you find peace within yourself, you become the kind of person who can live at peace with others.
Peace Pilgrim

At the end of the day, when "not even a creature is stirring" in the house and all is quiet - I can sit and meditate. Or at least practice my photography skills.

This is one of my favorite candle "holders" Dave made it from driftwood we found while walking at the beach.

Self love

It is lack of love for ourselves that inhibits our compassion toward others. If we make friends with ourselves, then there is no obstacle to opening our hearts and minds to others. --Author Unknown

On a journey

This is how I started my morning today . . .

and these little hands made my day today . . .
picking her very own pumpkin for the first time

Wild Woman stare. . . .

My first picture for my 365 days of Reality. Yes, that's me and no technically I didn't take it but . . . I had spent the previous 3 hours shooting pictures of Alexandria and the last couple of pictures were in the corn field.
