D-323 What's your comfort zone?

The daily challenge: My image is just blah -
The Daily Shoot
#ds370 Tungsten light can often create a warming effect, depending on your white balance. Use tungsten light in a photo today.

Today I didn't have to many willing models. So I took a picture of a store window. I felt like I was peeking into someones home - lol

Window

back to Mexico,
Going into this trip I had made up my mind that I wanted to take wide angle shots because I wanted to capture the feel of Puerto Vallarta and the feel of the towns we visited.
You see I'm comfortable taking close up images like these:
Fishing
This bird was so graceful. We stalked him for awhile, then he got comfortable with us.
Taking flight

Off he goes

so taking images like these was out of my comfort zone.
The Allegro Resort
That is where we stayed
David
and although I know the main subject is small, I wanted a dramatic look. The sky, the sand and even the tilt.

We have to keep pushing our creative comfort levels until we've exhausted what we can learn in that area. My friend Alexis suggested I go back to taking pictures of buildings - well one of the reasons I stopped was because I didn't know enough about how to photograph that subject correctly and I was very unhappy with my last attempts. I guess that means I need to look into that again, but for now maybe wide angles.

Beautiful images from your trip Sandra.

I love the bird and the sunset you have posted on Flickr is fabulous.

The bird pictures are stunning. They are really hard to capture in action like that.

I, too, struggle with the wide shots - how to create interest. I've read having a focal point in the foreground, I find it hard to find something compelling (or hard to make a rock compelling). I guess we just keep at it!

I love that you stepped out of your comfort zone and got beautiful results. I need to do more of that.

Getting out of your comfort zone is the best way to take fantastic photos. My favourite photos have almost always come when I did something like grabbing a 50mm prime for some street photography, or an ultra wide for portraits, or something like that.

For a project like a 365 it is imperative to get out of your comfort zone ever so often. Great photos by the way, not a brilliant potd but I guess we are all having a bit of a tough time coming down to the end.

I'm so glad you're continuing to share images from your trip - they're awesome!!

I also like your tungsten photo - the warm, tungsten lighting is very cozy in that shot.
